We have long been a partner with the Salvation Army at Christmastime. Each year we provide labor and support to their local efforts for their Red Kettle campaign. Due to the pandemic, our kettles in our immediate area will not be in stores. As such, we want to help offset and even raise the support of what they normally receive. Their ministry efforts provide financial support to families in need for medical and utility expenses so we want to make sure they have the resources to do so in the coming winter months.
Compassion International is a worldwide Christian organization that provide resources and the life-changing message of Jesus to under-resourced kids all over the world. This year, Compassion has created an initiative called Neighbors Around the World to provide resources to kids who have been directly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of their normal ministry supplies have been greatly hampered by the pandemic and kids who normally receive their support have been left without. So we’re partnering with Compassion to make up the gap and provide much needed food and hygiene resources. Additionally, if you’re so inclined Compassion’s main ministry efforts rely on individuals committing to ‘adopt’ a child for a monthly gift and that opportunity is available if the Lord leads you.
East Broadway Elementary School (EBES) is Serving 7 partner of Mainstreet. They have opened their doors to Mainstreet for about 5 years now and welcome our partnership with them in any way we can provide ministry to their school and kids. EBES is a Title 1 school, meaning that nearly all of their kids come from family economics that place them below the poverty standard. We’ve been able to do many ministries at EBES – our Giving Center is housed in their school to provide free clothing to their families, we’ve run mentorship programs with their students and assisted with many events for their school. The unsung heroes of EBES are their teachers and staff who minister there every single day, providing social and emotional support in addition to educational instruction to their students who often come from very challenging home settings. So, we want to show the love of Christ in a tangible way to these unsung heroes and bless them this Christmas.
