Each Christmas, we want to be a place that blesses others through our Season of Giving initiative. Our hope is to provide opportunities to generously bless others as a church-wide family.

Each year you have responded in ways that demonstrate your incredible desire to serve and love God and others. This year, we are again calling you to come together as the Church to give extravagantly so that others may be blessed in the name of Jesus.

It is with much prayer that for 2022 we are shifting our focus from multiple recipients to just one; the Tim Sherman family. Tim was our Student Ministry Pastor from 2005 – 2012 and their family is forever part of our Mainstreet family. We wish we could bless everyone who has unexpected financial needs or who is need of our support. Because this is not practically possible, we choose to “do for one what we wish we could do for all”. Below is a brief summary of the journey the Shermans are currently walking. We ask that you keep them in your prayers and consider joining us to bless them boldly.

We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor to discuss if this donation is tax-deductible.

The Sherman Family

During the summer of 2021 Shelly was experiencing weakness on her left side and after a few doctor appointments there was no explanation or remedy for what she was experiencing. In an effort to get answers, we went to the ER and after several tests they found a cancerous brain tumor the size of a golf ball. Two weeks later she had brain surgery to remove the tumor and pathology showed it, unfortunately, as an aggressive cancer. After a few weeks of recovery and rehab she started chemo and radiation that lasted six weeks. These treatments were paused for a couple weeks as she endured several seizures that put her in the hospital so that they could figure out how to slow them down.

Over the past year since she completed those treatments, she has had several MRI’s, took several doses of a maintenance chemo, and therapy about twice a week. The seizures have slowed down, but she still has them every two or three weeks. The most recent MRI showed that the spot from a year ago is stable, but there are two new spots.

Since the maintenance chemo didn’t seem to work, she started a different one in July. She recently took her fourth round that is taken once every six weeks. In October, they added a treatment that she receives by infusion every other Wednesday. Her next MRI will be around Christmas to see if anything has changed.

As Shelly said in her last update… “I’m not going to lie; it’s been a really long road, but our family continues to keep our Hope in Christ. We continue to pray for a miracle, but yet His Will for our lives.”
