National Day of Prayer
Unity in Prayer
May 4, 2023
Prayer brings us all together. We are excited to gather for a time of both individual and corporate prayer! Join us at 5:30pm ON CAMPUS as Mainstreet observes National Day of Prayer on May 4th.
This will be a time of worship-based prayer in which we will give Him praise and thanksgiving as well as pray for others and our world. Come experience the uniting and transforming power of prayer.
If you are unable to join us ON CAMPUS, we will be posting a link on May 4 to resources you can use on demand.
National Day of Prayer
As a country, today is the day that we acknowledge as our National Day of Prayer. As believers, we understand the importance and power in praying to our sovereign God. Through prayer, the body of Christ comes together and is united. During this time, let us practice scripture and worship-based prayer. When our prayer is based in worship, we are able to seek first the face of God above all things. We will be going through four different postures of prayer—reverence, response, requests, and readiness. Psalm 18:30-50 (NLT)
REVERENCE
First, let us take the time to publicly and corporately praise God for who He is. His attributes and character. During this time, we want to focus on only worshipping Him and giving Him praise—not ask for anything. Let us read this passage of scripture and give God praise. If needed, please follow any of the prompts to guide you through each posture of prayer.
RESPONSE
Now that we have spent time praise God for His character and attributes, slowly—and with great focus—read this scripture again. Now, we will take time to privately reflect and respond to what you feel the Lord is telling you. On your own, spend a few moments listening and yielding to what God’s will. Are there areas of your life that you need to surrender to Him? Is there any sin that you need to confess to the Lord or give over to Him?
Here are some prompts to use in conjunction with Psalm 18:30-50:
