Our one-day event where we spread out across the community to do fall yard work and small projects for neighbors who could use a hand preparing for the colder weather ahead. Think raking leaves, tidying yards, and picking up brush.

All month long throughout your life and communities.

Serving opportunities are all around us every day. When we notice a need and meet it, even in small ways, we show love right where we are. Here are a few simple ideas to try this month:

  • Rake a neighbor’s leaves
  • Drop a pumpkin or mums on a porch
  • Bake and share a sweet treat
  • Chalk encouragement on your sidewalk
  • Grab a Green Bag on Sunday and fill it with winter gear

Big or small, every act of kindness makes a difference!

Serve It Up FAQs

  • It’s a one-day event  (October 25, 8:00am -1:00pm approx) where we spread out across our community to do fall yard work and small projects for neighbors who could use a hand preparing for the colder weather ahead. Think raking leaves, tidying yards, and picking up brush..

  • We will meet up at Mainstreet at 8:00am to form groups, have some donuts, and get ready to head out. Most serving sites will be done around 1:00pm, depending on what needs to be done and the size of the group. 

  • We’ll be helping people at their homes and different places throughout our community that are in need of help preparing for cold weather. Do you know of someone who could use a hand, click HERE to add them to our list!

  • Gloves, rakes, yard bags, or just yourself. We’ll match you with a project you can handle.

  • Yes! Serving is for all ages. Younger kids can help rake leaves, chalk sidewalks, or deliver mums/treats either at Serve It Up Saturday or throughout the month. 

  • We’d love to hear about them! Use the form HERE to let us know of a neighbor or family who could use a hand so we can add them to our list. 

    *Please know that we will contact all participants for direct permission prior to the event.

  • Signing up helps us plan, but if you forget, come anyway! There’s a place for you. Just be sure to arrive by 8:00am!

  • No problem! Serve It Up October is all month long! Check out our Serve Where You Live, Work & Play ideas above and jump in where you can! 

  • Filling a Green Bag with winter essentials is another way to serve this season. Your donations will go to The Giving Center, Third Thursday, and The Giving Center on the Move so coats, hats, gloves, and other warm items reach those who need them before the cold weather hits.

  • Unless it’s a major storm, we’ll still head out (bring rain gear!). If weather makes it unsafe, we’ll contact anyone signed up with alternate plans and communicate via our social media accounts.

  • Not at all. Anyone who wants to serve with us is invited. Bring a friend, coworker, or neighbor along! And if there is someone you know that needs a hand (even if they don’t attend Mainstreet) let us know HERE so we can add them to our list!
