Good Friday – Day of Darkness

The last 24 hours of Jesus’ life on earth were unlike any other day. He spent quality time with his closest friends and left us a ceremony of remembrance to embrace. He endured an unjust arrest, trials and conviction of crimes that were not his to own. And he suffered unimaginable pain in an execution that paved the way for our future. It was a Day of Darkness and we must remember it in order to see the victory ahead.

Easter – Seeing is Believing!

We live in a culture and we are a people who love to see proof. In order to believe something is true, we want the hard, verifiable evidence. The same was true in the days of Jesus. People wanted to see in order to believe. When news first broke that Jesus was no longer in the tomb, the disciples ran to see it with their own eyes because they couldn’t believe it without seeing it. And yet, in one of his post-resurrection appearances Jesus challenges an apostle to “believe even though we cannot see”.  Still today, that challenge is what we all must wrestle with in order to believe.
